Careful moves,
across East Sussex.
We move houses, cottages and flats the length of the county — the seafront terraces at Eastbourne and Bexhill, the twittens of Lewes, farmhouses off the Downs, and the new estates at Hailsham and Polegate. Local work, long runs up-country, and moves that carry on into Europe.
Packing, part-packing, storage between completions — say what you need when you write in.
What we do
A removals firm that knows the county it works in — the coast, the Downs, and everything between.
East Sussex is not one kind of place. Eastbourne and Bexhill are seafront flats and bungalows; Hastings is a steep old town and Victorian terraces; Lewes is narrow and listed; Uckfield and Crowborough are commuter houses with driveways; and out past Heathfield it turns into farm tracks and barn conversions. We price and crew each one for what it actually is.
Access read before the day
Twittens, seafront flats, farm tracks, bay suspensions. We look at how the vehicle actually reaches the door, and say so in the quote instead of finding out on the morning.
Packing that suits the house
Full pack, part pack, or just the fragile end of it. China, pictures, mirrors and lamps get the materials they need; the books and the shed do not need the same fuss.
Storage when the chain slips
Wrapped, inventoried containers for the gap between completions. Things come back out in the order you want them, not in whatever order they went in.
One office, start to finish
The person who takes your brief is the person who knows the job when you ring on the Tuesday before. No handing you round a call queue.
The county
Moving across East Sussex
Most of our work sits inside a triangle: the coast road from Peacehaven through Newhaven, Seaford, Eastbourne and Bexhill into Hastings; the A22 and A26 running inland to Hailsham, Uckfield and Crowborough; and the A21 heading up past Battle towards Tunbridge Wells and the M25.
That geography decides how a day runs. A move from Seaford to Uckfield crosses the Downs on roads that are slow with a loaded Luton. A Rye job is a long first leg before anything gets lifted. Anyone leaving the county for the North or the Midlands is looking at an hour before they see a motorway. We build all of that into the plan rather than pretending the map is flat.
Coastal and resort towns
Seafront flats, converted Victorian villas, bungalows on the Willingdon and Old Town edges. Lifts that are too small for a wardrobe, and parking that needs arranging with the council.
The Downs and the villages
Alfriston, Ditchling, Firle, the lanes behind Battle. Single-track approaches, overhanging trees, and the occasional property where the only way in is a shuttle with a smaller van.
Market and commuter towns
Lewes, Uckfield, Crowborough, Hailsham, Heathfield. Straightforward houses for the most part, with Lewes as the exception — listed frontages, twittens, and a High Street you do not want to be blocking at nine in the morning.
Coverage
Across East Sussex
Six towns with enough of their own character to be worth writing about properly. The rest of the county — Hailsham, Crowborough, Newhaven, Rye, Battle, Peacehaven, Heathfield, Polegate — is covered from the same yards.
Services
What we are asked for most
House removals
Full household moves across the county and out of it — survey, pack, load, deliver, rebuild.
Man and van
Single rooms, student moves, a flat's worth of furniture, one heavy item that will not fit in a car.
Storage
Containerised store between completions, or longer while a renovation runs on.
Packing & handling
Materials, wrapping, dismantling and rebuilding — and the fragile things done properly.
Rural & coastal property
Farmhouses, barn conversions, cottages down lanes, and everything in the outbuildings.
European moves
Removals from East Sussex to France, Spain, Italy and Portugal, paperwork included.
The process
How a move actually runs
- One
Tell us about the house
Write in with both addresses, roughly what is in the rooms, and anything awkward — a piano, a loft full of boxes, a lane the lorry will not take.
- Two
We survey and quote in writing
In person where it helps, over video where that is easier. You get a written quote setting out volume, crew, vehicle, packing and what is covered.
- Three
We move you
Crew arrives, load goes on in a planned order, and the unload is set out room by room so you are not opening every carton to find the kettle.
The European arm
Removals from East Sussex to Europe
The county sits close to the crossings, which is why so many moves from here carry on into Europe rather than stopping at the coast. Four destinations we handle regularly, each framed the way the job runs — from East Sussex, out through Kent, and on.
Common questions
Before you write in
Do you cover the whole county, or just one end of it?
The whole county. East Sussex is wider than people assume — Rye to Peacehaven is a fair run — so we quote on access and distance rather than pretending it is all the same job. Crews work out of the coastal strip and the Uckfield side, which keeps the Downs villages reachable without a long dead leg.
My road is a twitten and a lorry will never fit. Now what?
Lewes, old Hastings and parts of Rye are exactly this. We shuttle: park the Luton on the nearest road that takes it, then run the load in and out with a smaller van or trolleys. It adds hands rather than drama, and we would rather plan it than discover it on the morning.
Can you store things between completions?
Yes. Chains slip and dates move; that is normal here. Goods go into wrapped containers, inventoried, and come out in the order you want them back. Tell us at quote stage if there is any chance you will need it.
Do you pack, or is that on me?
Either. Plenty of people pack the books and the kitchen themselves and leave us the china, the pictures and the wardrobes. Full pack is available too. Say which you want and the quote reflects it.
Is a move to France or Spain a different company?
No, it is us. The load leaves East Sussex, runs the A27 and A21 up to the M25 and out through Kent to the tunnel or the ferry, and the paperwork for the customs side goes with it. Same crew packing, same office answering.
Next step
Tell us about the move
Send the details — where you are going from, where to, and roughly what is in the house. We will read it properly and come back with a written quote.
