Man and van, East Sussex
The smaller end of the work: a flat's worth of furniture, a room being moved across town, a student going home for the summer, or one heavy thing that will not go in a car. Two people and a van, booked by the job.
Not every move needs a Luton and a four-man crew. A good proportion of what we are asked for in East Sussex is smaller than that — someone leaving a shared house in Hastings, a one-bed above a shop on Seaside Road, a flat in Seaford being emptied for a sale.
Man and van is how we handle it. Same crews, same blankets, same care with the door frames. Just a smaller vehicle and a shorter day.

Where it stops being the right answer
There is a point where a man and van becomes two trips and a long day, and at that point it is neither cheaper nor faster than a proper house removal. Roughly, a well-filled one-bed is the top of it. We will say so when you describe the load — it saves everybody an afternoon.
Access on the small jobs
Small loads often come out of the hardest buildings. Converted Victorian houses along the Eastbourne and Bexhill seafronts have staircases that turn twice before the first landing. St Leonards has flats above shops with a single narrow door onto a busy pavement. The Old Town in Hastings adds steps and gradient to everything.
We ask the same questions every time: which floor, is there a lift, how wide is the staircase turn, and where can the van legally stand. A two-minute conversation at the booking stage prevents the great majority of problems on the day.
Booking and timing
Give us the two addresses, a list or a photo of what is going, and the floor at each end. If it is straightforward we can usually confirm without a visit. Weekends and the end of the month fill first; mid-week is easier to get and easier to park.

Is it one man or two?
Two, on anything with furniture in it. One person and a van is fine for boxes; it is not fine for a sofa down three flights in St Leonards, and pretending otherwise is how things get damaged.
Will you help carry, or just drive?
Carry. That is the job. If you only want a vehicle and a driver while you do the lifting, say so and we will price it that way, but it is not what most people mean when they ask.
Do you do single items?
Yes — a wardrobe from a Bexhill house to a Hastings flat, a sofa bought off a marketplace listing, an upright piano across town. Send a photo and the two addresses and we will tell you what it needs.
Can you do a student move at the end of term?
Yes, and the Brighton and Eastbourne campuses make late June busy. Book ahead if you can; the last week of term is the pinch point every year.
Is it cheaper than a full removal?
For a small load, usually — you are paying for a smaller vehicle and fewer hands. Past about a one-bed flat it stops being the cheaper option because it turns into two trips, and we will tell you when that line has been crossed.
