Storage, for the gap in the middle
Chains slip. Renovations overrun. A sale completes before the purchase does. Containerised storage holds the household in between — wrapped, listed, and collected as part of the same removal rather than as a separate errand for you.
More East Sussex moves need storage than anyone plans for. Coastal property sales are often chain-heavy, the older housing stock in Lewes and Hastings throws up renovation work that runs long, and people heading abroad rarely get the sale and the sailing to line up.
How it works
The crew that packs the house is the crew that loads the containers. Everything is wrapped as if for transit, listed on an inventory, and sealed in. The containers are then racked in a warehouse rather than left in a yard. When you are ready, the same inventory comes back out and gets delivered room by room.

When people use it
Between completions
The commonest reason. You are out of one house and not yet into the next. Goods go straight from the load onto the racking without a second lift, which is the part that keeps the cost sensible.
During building work
Plenty of the county's housing is old enough that buying it means rewiring it. Putting the contents of two or three rooms into store while a floor comes up is cheaper than repairing what the dust and the traffic would have done to it.
Downsizing
Moving from a family house in Uckfield into a flat on the coast rarely works in one step. Storing the things you have not decided about buys time without filling the new hallway.
Ahead of a move abroad
For a move to France, Spain, Italy or Portugal, the store holds the load until the vehicle and the customs paperwork are ready. The inventory does double duty as the packing list.
What we need to know
Roughly what is going in, whether you will need access while it is stored, and when you expect to want it back — even a vague answer helps. It is easier to hold a booking and release it than to find space at three days' notice in July.
Storage usually sits alongside a house removal; for smaller loads the man and van service can collect straight into store.

What is containerised storage?
Your goods are wrapped, listed, and loaded into timber containers that are sealed and racked in a warehouse. Nothing is tipped into a communal space. It is handled once at each end rather than repeatedly.
Can I get at my things while they are stored?
With notice, yes — a container can be brought down and opened during working hours. It is not a self-storage unit you walk into whenever you like, which is the trade-off for it being handled and inventoried.
How long can things stay?
From the gap between exchange and completion up to a renovation that has overrun badly. There is no fixed limit; we simply confirm the arrangement in writing so nobody is guessing.
Is stored property insured?
Cover is in place for goods in store as well as in transit, with the usual conditions around owner-packed cartons and items of unusual value. Declare anything genuinely valuable and we will confirm what applies before it goes in.
Do you store things ahead of a move abroad?
Often. A European move rarely lines up neatly with the sale of a house, so goods sit here until the vehicle and the paperwork are ready. It is the same inventory that later becomes the customs packing list.
