House removals across East Sussex

House removals are the bulk of what we do in East Sussex, and the houses vary more here than people expect. A seafront flat in Bexhill and a farmhouse off the Heathfield road are the same job in name only. So the first thing we do is look at the property, not at a price list.
What is included
Every house move quote covers the vehicle and the crew for the day, blankets and covers for the furniture, floor and door-frame protection where it is needed, and the dismantling and rebuilding of beds, wardrobes and tables that will not go through a door in one piece. Loading order is planned so the unload comes off room by room.

Packing, in whatever amount you want
Some households want the whole thing done: crews arrive, everything is boxed, and you walk out with the kettle. Others pack the books, the toys and the garage themselves and leave us the china, the glass, the pictures and the wardrobes. Both are fine. What is not fine is a quote that quietly assumes one and delivers the other, so we set out on paper exactly which rooms we are packing.
Fragile items get the materials they need — cell partitions for glass, picture cartons for framed work, purpose-made cartons for lampshades. Owner-packed cartons are moved happily, but they sit differently in the insurance, and we will explain that rather than let you find it in the small print.
Access, which is the part that catches people out
In Lewes the question is whether the twitten takes a trolley. In Hastings Old Town it is the gradient and the steps. On the seafront it is the lift dimensions and whether the council will suspend a bay. Out towards Ninfield or the Ashdown edge it is whether the lane has a passing place and what happens when it has rained.
We check all of that before the day, not on it. Where the vehicle genuinely cannot reach the door, the answer is a shuttle — a smaller van running between the house and the Luton — and that goes in the quote as extra hands rather than appearing as a surprise.
Moving out of the county
A good share of East Sussex moves end somewhere else entirely: London, the Midlands, the West Country, or abroad. Leaving here means the A27, the A22 or the A21 before you see a motorway, which affects crewing and what can honestly be done in one day. We treat those as long-distance work from the start. Getting a price
Quotes are written, and they set out the volume we have measured, the crew and vehicle, what packing is included, and what cover applies. What moves the number is volume, access at both ends, how much packing you want and how far it is going — not the time of year or how urgent you sound. If you want to compare, compare those four things.

What does a house removal include?
Vehicle, crew, protection and the labour to load and unload — plus dismantling and rebuilding the furniture that needs it. Packing is priced separately because plenty of people want to do part of it themselves.
Do you survey every house?
We offer one on every house move and recommend it on anything above a two-bed. It is the only reliable way to get the volume right, and it costs nothing. Video surveys work well if you are already living elsewhere.
Will one vehicle do it?
Depends on the volume and the access. A three-bed in Polegate with a driveway is usually one Luton. The same house contents out of a Lewes twitten may need two runs with a smaller vehicle. The survey answers it.
Can you move us in stages?
Yes. Part of the load going into store while the rest goes straight in is a normal arrangement, especially where a renovation is running behind. Say so at quote stage so the pricing reflects the double handling.
What do you need from me on the day?
Access, a decision-maker on site or reachable, and anything you want kept back put in one labelled place. Everything else is ours.
